Generation Pictures

We took generation pictures with my Mom this weekend at Sears and I bought the copyright so that we could share them. The weather was crazy, but we were like the postal service people. No amount of rain, wind, thunderstorming (or lack of sleep) could deter us from our photo shoot! :=)

Vacation Time!

Sorry for the delay in posting. We have been having the best time with finishing up the summer and starting school. In July, we went to St. Petersburg, Florida, and a stop off at Busch Gardens/Tampa Bay. We saw beautiful sunsets, a double rainbow, a underwater sleeping hippo and ended our stay with two new friends - Shirley the Unicorn and Oreo the Dalmation.

In Memory of James Stanley (January 18, 2008)

As the month of June passes (his birthday and Father's Day), I have to remember my Daddy. For those who do not know, my father passed away on January 18th of gallbladder related complications. It was a shockingly quick turn of events...of which my mother, sister and I are still struggling to understand.

Jim Stanley lived life to the fullest. He was a veteran, a hunter and a fisherman. He played pool and poker like a pro. He was everyone's friend and the person you could always count on when the chips were down.

Thank you, Daddy, for the throws in the air, the rides on your shoulders, the homemade donuts. Thank you for the swimming lessons, the bike lessons, the driving lessons. Thank you for the thousands of hugs and kisses and countless other blessings you gave me. I love you and I miss you.

Hello!

Thanks to my friend, Jen C., for telling me how to set up this blog! It is a great way to keep our friends and family up to date on family news. Here is a brief update on everyone..

-I am still working with TSYS and have contracted with them to help with their financial systems conversion. I recently increased my hours from 15 to 25 per week.. ugh! I feel fortunate these days to be able to work less than a full week and be able to spend more time with the girls.. who are growing like weeds!

-John just finished a two year (travel-filled) tour with the Georgia Counterdrug Task Force (active guard status). He is now enjoying (or should I say that I am enjoying) a standard work week with TSYS again as Associate Director. And, yes, he still has his Ford Lightning .. for our friends in Atlanta.

-Megan is a young lady now..well not exactly. She loves all animals, including tadpoles and worms. Yuck! Like John, she enjoys movies and swimming. She is loving her summer program that allows her to swim at the YMCA each week. This year has been a huge growth year for her. She is in the 90th percentile for height. And.. she has had a lot of "firsts" this year... learning to ride her bike without training wheels, skating at the rink for the first time (mostly holding onto the rails), and learning to READ! I can't believe that she starts first grade in the Fall.

-Rylie is THE princess in our family. She loves all things sparkly and has the sparkly personality to go with it. We call her our "Smiley Rylie". She enjoys books and tries to read them back to us. She is learning to recognize her alphabet, how to write her letters and can now write her name. John says that she is the spitting image of me. I hope that she grows out of that.
